It’s official – the sticky humid heat of another Richmond summer has arrived. For many, this time of year is full of summer vacations, backyard barbeques, and pool parties. While most Richmonders can escape the hot sun into comfortably air conditioned homes, that is not possible for many families, veterans, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Exposure to extreme temperatures and harsh sunlight, paired with limited access to food and water increases the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and stroke. For someone without shelter, the scorching summer weather can be just as dangerous as the brutality of winter.
This summer, HomeAgain is launching a Heatwave to End Homelessness July 2 – July 3. Help us raise $5,000 in 36 hours to support HomeAgain programs and services – helping Richmond families and individuals get off the street, and into safe housing.
Join the Heatwave to End Homelessness by donating at https://www.homeagainrichmond.org/heatwave-to-end-homelessness/starting at 8AM July 2nd and sharing what home means to you with your community.
